Working with me

How I price and run freelance projects: the starting price, milestones, contracts, payment, support, Beirut hours, and languages.

I build custom software and data systems for clients who care how they're built. Here's how working together goes, from the first call to the handover, so you know what to expect before you get in touch.

How a project works

Intro call

Free · 20 to 30 minutes

We talk through what you need and whether I'm the right person for it. A rough idea of the problem is enough.

Discovery

Paid · larger projects only

When a project is big or not yet well defined, we work out the requirements and the architecture together first. You keep the result, whether or not we carry on.

A written scope

Agreed before work starts

What I'll build, what's out of scope, the milestones, the price and the dates, in writing.

Building, milestone by milestone

Fixed price or time-based

Working software at every milestone. Plans change once software is in front of people, and that's fine: a change to the scope is quoted in writing and built once you've approved it.

Handover

Included in every delivery

  • The source code, in your repository
  • Documentation: how to run it, deploy it, and change it
  • Tests, so whoever changes it next can tell whether they broke something
  • A walkthrough with your team, to answer their questions

60-day bug-fix warranty

Included

If something doesn't work as the scope says, I fix it for free for 60 days after delivery. After that, a monthly support retainer for fixes, updates and small improvements is there if you want one, sized to what your system needs.

Two ways to agree on a price

Fixed price per milestone

Best when the scope is clear

  • A fixed price for each milestone, agreed before it starts; changes to the scope are quoted separately
  • Invoiced as each milestone is delivered
  • New clients pay 50% up front to book the time

Time-based

Best for exploratory or open-ended work

  • For research, prototypes, or ongoing development
  • $120 an hour, for the hours worked
  • Invoiced monthly, with what the hours went into

Smaller ways to start

Not ready for a whole project? Each of these has a set scope and price, and if you hire me afterwards, its fee is credited toward the project.

Consultation

$120 an hour

A second opinion on a data model, a technical decision, or a plan.

AI prototype review

from $720

You built a prototype with AI tools, and it mostly works. You get a written answer: what it would take to make it secure and reliable for real users, and whether to build on it or start over.

Code and architecture review

from $960

I read your codebase and its architecture. You get a written report: what's sound, what's risky, and what to fix first.

Contracts and payment

Every project runs under a written scope of work.

I'm happy to sign an NDA before we go into details.

The intellectual property and source code are yours once the work is paid for.

50% deposit from new clients, before work starts

14 days to pay an invoice

USD or EUR invoiced in either

Bank transfer SEPA to an EU account, or SWIFT to an EU or Lebanese account

Hours and languages

I work on Beirut time, UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer. My working day, 8:00 to 19:00, covers the whole European working day and US East Coast mornings, and I reply the same working day. For the US West Coast or Australia, we'd agree on regular call times that suit us both.

Meetings, documentation and handover in whichever language your team works in:
